Duane’s Art Exhibition
The likelihood of artists hiring or being friends with biographers is quite low. Let's forget about the traditional rules of the art academy. In 1972, I made the decision to pursue a career as an artist after experiencing a few pivotal moments, including my introduction to "The Persistence of Memory." This led me to switch my high school studies from math and science to art and literature, where I explored cubism and surrealism. After a semester at the Alfred University College of Ceramics and feeling unsatisfied and overwhelmed by financial burden, I spent three semesters at Harpur College. However, I soon realized that pursuing an art career in a small town in upstate New York was futile, so I left university in 1977 without a degree in fine arts.
